Ingredients
Fruit Puree
- 3 large very ripe mangoes
- 1 teaspoon orange zest
- 1 tablespoon cane sugar or granulated sugar
Whipped Cream
- 1 cup (240ml) heavy whipping cream, chilled
- 1 tablespoon cane sugar or granulated sugar
- 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Garnish
- Half of one mango, diced (reserved from the mangoes above)
- Mint leaves (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare Mango Puree: Peel the mangoes and cut around the pit. Reserve half of one mango for later garnishing. Chop the remaining mango flesh and place it in a food processor or blender. Add 1 tablespoon of sugar and the orange zest, then blend until it forms a smooth puree.
- Whip the Cream: Pour the chilled heavy whipping cream into a bowl. Add 1 tablespoon of sugar and the vanilla extract. Using a hand mixer or stand mixer, whip the cream until stiff peaks form, which should take about 3 minutes.
- Assemble Mango Cream: In serving cups or glasses, layer the mango puree and the whipped cream alternately. Dice the reserved mango and place it on top of the layered cups. Garnish with fresh mint leaves if desired. Serve immediately or chill for at least 30 minutes before serving for the best chilled experience.
Notes
- You can prepare the mango puree, whipped cream, and diced mango topping ahead of time and store each separately in airtight containers in the fridge. Assemble the layers just before serving to keep everything fresh.
- Use very ripe mangoes for the best flavor and natural sweetness in the puree.
- Heavy whipping cream must be chilled prior to whipping for optimal volume and texture.
- You may substitute cane sugar with granulated sugar or honey in the mango puree if preferred.
- This dessert is best enjoyed chilled to bring out the fresh fruity and creamy flavors.
