Description
Malteser Traybake is a delicious no-bake dessert that combines crunchy Maltesers with a rich chocolatey base, perfect for sharing at parties or as a sweet treat for yourself.
Ingredients
- 200g Maltesers (plus extra for topping)
150g digestive biscuits or graham crackers, crushed
150g unsalted butter
200g milk chocolate, chopped
100g dark chocolate, chopped
4 tablespoons golden syrup or light corn syrup
Instructions
Prepare the Base: Line a square or rectangular baking tin (about 8-inch or 20 cm size) with parchment paper.
- Crush the Biscuits: Place the digestive biscuits in a ziplock bag or between parchment paper and crush them into small crumbs, not powdered.
- Melt the Chocolate: In a saucepan over low heat, melt the butter, milk chocolate, dark chocolate, and golden syrup. Stir until smooth and fully combined.
- Combine the Ingredients: Remove the melted chocolate mixture from the heat and fold in the crushed biscuits and Maltesers until evenly mixed.
- Press the Mixture into the Tin: Transfer the mixture into the prepared tin and press it down firmly with a spoon.
- Top with Extra Maltesers: Add extra Maltesers on top and press them gently into the surface.
- Chill and Set: Place the traybake in the fridge for 2-3 hours, or until set and firm.
- Serve: Remove from the tin using the parchment paper and cut into squares or bars.
Notes
- For a nutty version, add chopped nuts such as hazelnuts or walnuts.
- Drizzle caramel sauce on top for a rich finishing touch.
- For a fruity twist, add dried cranberries or raisins.
- Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 4 days or refrigerate to prevent it from softening.
- Freezing: You can freeze the traybake for up to 2 months and thaw in the fridge overnight before serving.
