Ingredients
- 8 oz of your favorite pasta (spaghetti, fettuccine, or linguine)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- Zest and juice of 1 lemon
- 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves, chopped
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1 tablespoon butter (optional, for added richness)
Instructions
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the pasta according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain the pasta, reserving about 1/2 cup of pasta water.
- While the pasta cooks, heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
- Add the zest and juice of the lemon to the skillet, followed by the chopped basil. Stir to combine.
- Add the cooked pasta to the skillet and toss gently to coat the pasta in the lemon and basil mixture. Add a splash of reserved pasta water to help the sauce adhere.
- Stir in Parmesan cheese, and season with salt and pepper. For extra richness, add a tablespoon of butter.
- Serve immediately, garnished with additional basil and Parmesan if desired.
