Description

Lemon Basil Pasta is a vibrant and fresh dish featuring the perfect combination of zesty lemon and aromatic basil. This quick and easy pasta recipe is perfect for a light lunch or dinner. Whether enjoyed on its own or paired with a protein, this Lemon Basil Pasta will quickly become a favorite in your meal rotation.

Ingredients

  • 8 oz of your favorite pasta (spaghetti, fettuccine, or linguine)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • Zest and juice of 1 lemon
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves, chopped
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 tablespoon butter (optional, for added richness)

Instructions

  • Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the pasta according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain the pasta, reserving about 1/2 cup of pasta water.
  • While the pasta cooks, heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  • Add the zest and juice of the lemon to the skillet, followed by the chopped basil. Stir to combine.
  • Add the cooked pasta to the skillet and toss gently to coat the pasta in the lemon and basil mixture. Add a splash of reserved pasta water to help the sauce adhere.
  • Stir in Parmesan cheese, and season with salt and pepper. For extra richness, add a tablespoon of butter.
  • Serve immediately, garnished with additional basil and Parmesan if desired.

Notes

  • You can add protein (chicken, shrimp) or vegetables (sautéed spinach, cherry tomatoes) for a heartier meal.
  • For a vegan option, omit Parmesan and butter, and use plant-based alternatives.
  • For a spicy version, add red pepper flakes to the garlic and olive oil.
