Description

Keto Sausage Cream Cheese Pinwheels are savory, low-carb appetizers featuring seasoned sausage and creamy cheese rolled in a flaky keto-friendly dough. These bite-sized pinwheels are perfect for parties, snacks, or meal prep on a keto diet.

Ingredients

  1. 1 lb ground breakfast sausage
    8 oz cream cheese, softened
    1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
    1 teaspoon garlic powder
    1/2 teaspoon onion powder
    Salt and pepper to taste
    2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
    2 large eggs
    1 1/2 cups almond flour
    1 teaspoon baking powder

Instructions

Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  1. In a skillet over medium heat, cook sausage until browned and cooked through. Drain excess fat and let cool slightly.
  2. In a bowl, mix softened cream cheese, shredded cheddar, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
  3. Stir cooked sausage into the cream cheese mixture until combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, combine mozzarella cheese, eggs, almond flour, and baking powder. Microwave for 1 minute, stir, then microwave for another 30 seconds until the cheese melts and mixture forms a dough.
  5. Place the dough between two sheets of parchment paper and roll into a rectangle about 1/4-inch thick.
  6. Spread the sausage and cream cheese mixture evenly over the dough.
  7. Carefully roll the dough into a tight log and slice into 1-inch pinwheels.
  8. Place pinwheels on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 15-18 minutes, until golden and cooked through.
  9. Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  1. Use spicy sausage for a kick of heat.
  2. Add chopped jalapeños or bell peppers to the filling.
  3. Substitute mozzarella with pepper jack cheese for extra flavor.
  4. Sprinkle pinwheels with sesame seeds or everything bagel seasoning before baking.
  5. Serve with low-carb marinara or ranch dressing for dipping.
