Description
Rich, gooey slow cooker brownies with a molten hot fudge sauce hidden underneath. This easy, hands-off dessert cooks to chocolatey perfection and is best served warm with a scoop of ice cream.
Ingredients
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup cocoa powder (plus extra for topping)
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup whole milk
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil or melted butter
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 1/4 cups hot water
Instructions
Grease the slow cooker insert with butter or nonstick spray.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour, granulated sugar, 1/4 cup cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
- Stir in milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla until just combined.
- Fold in chocolate chips and spread batter evenly in the slow cooker.
- In a separate bowl, mix brown sugar with 2–3 tbsp cocoa powder; sprinkle evenly over the batter.
- Carefully pour hot water over the top without stirring.
- Cover and cook on HIGH for 2–3 hours, until the top looks set but the bottom is still gooey.
- Serve warm, spooning brownie and sauce together into bowls.
Notes
- Check for doneness around the 2-hour mark to avoid overcooking.
- Replace part of the hot water with hot coffee for a richer chocolate flavor.
- Add nuts, peanut butter chips, or marshmallows for variation.
