Description

Honey Sesame Chicken is a quick, flavorful dish featuring crispy chicken tossed in a sweet and savory honey glaze with toasted sesame seeds. Ready in just 25 minutes, it’s perfect for weeknight dinners or meal prep and pairs beautifully with rice, noodles, or stir-fried veggies.

Ingredients

2 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces

2 tablespoons vegetable oil

1/4 cup cornstarch

Salt and pepper, to taste

2 tablespoons sesame oil

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced

1 tablespoon soy sauce (use tamari for gluten-free option)

2 tablespoons honey

2 tablespoons rice vinegar

2 tablespoons sesame seeds

Green onions, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  • Coat Chicken: In a bowl, toss chicken pieces with cornstarch, salt, and pepper until evenly coated.

  • Fry Chicken: Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add chicken and cook for 6–7 minutes, turning to brown all sides until crispy and cooked through. Remove and set aside.

  • Make Sauce: In the same skillet, add sesame oil. Sauté garlic and ginger for 1 minute until fragrant.

  • Simmer Sauce: Stir in soy sauce, honey, and rice vinegar. Bring to a gentle simmer for 2–3 minutes to thicken slightly.

  • Combine: Return chicken to skillet and toss to coat with the sauce. Cook for an additional 2–3 minutes.

  • Finish: Sprinkle with sesame seeds and chopped green onions.

  • Serve: Enjoy over rice, noodles, or alongside steame

Notes

  • Extra Crispy Tip: Double fry the chicken or air fry for a lighter version.

  • Thicker Sauce: Add a cornstarch slurry (1 tsp cornstarch + 1 tbsp water) if a thicker glaze is preferred.

  • Protein Swap: Substitute with tofu, shrimp, or pork if desired.

  • Vegetable Add-ins: Stir-fry broccoli, snap peas, or bell peppers before adding chicken back in.
