Description

Homemade blueberry dried fruit bites are a chewy, nutrient-packed snack made with real fruit. Bursting with natural sweetness and antioxidants, these bites are perfect for a healthy on-the-go treat.

Ingredients

  1. 1 cup dried blueberries
  2. 1/2 cup dried cranberries
  3. 1/4 cup dried apricots, chopped
  4. 1/4 cup raisins or sultanas
  5. 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce
  6. 1/4 cup honey or maple syrup (optional for added sweetness)
  7. 1/4 cup chia seeds or flax seeds (optional for added texture)
  8. 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  9. A pinch of salt

Instructions

In a food processor, combine the dried blueberries, cranberries, apricots, and raisins. Pulse until the mixture becomes finely chopped, but not pureed.

  1. Add the applesauce, honey or maple syrup (if using), chia seeds (or flax seeds), vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt to the food processor. Pulse again until all ingredients are well mixed and the mixture begins to stick together.
  2. Transfer the mixture to a clean surface or a piece of parchment paper. Press the mixture into a flat, even layer about 1/2 inch thick.
  3. Using a sharp knife or cookie cutter, cut the mixture into bite-sized pieces or shapes of your choice.
  4. Place the pieces on a baking sheet or parchment paper and allow them to air-dry for 4-6 hours at room temperature or refrigerate them for faster results.
  5. Once the bites are firm, store them in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 1 week, or freeze them for longer storage.

Notes

  • For a tropical twist, try adding dried mango, pineapple, or coconut flakes.
  • These bites can be made without honey, using maple syrup, agave syrup, or even stevia for a lower-sugar version.
  • Feel free to add a scoop of protein powder for an extra protein boost.
  • These fruit bites freeze well for up to 2 months and can be stored in the fridge for up to 1 week.
