Description
Grilled Mozzarella Sandwiches are a classic comfort food combining gooey, melty mozzarella cheese and crispy, golden-brown bread. Perfect for a quick lunch or dinner, it’s a simple yet satisfying dish.
Ingredients
- 2 slices of your favorite bread (sourdough, whole wheat, or white)
4 oz fresh mozzarella cheese, sliced
1 tablespoon unsalted butter, softened
Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
Butter one side of each slice of bread evenly with the softened butter.
- Place one slice of bread, buttered side down, onto a heated skillet over medium heat.
- Layer the fresh mozzarella slices on top of the bread in the skillet.
- Top with the second slice of bread, buttered side up.
- Grill the sandwich for about 3-4 minutes on each side, pressing it down lightly with a spatula to ensure even toasting, until the bread is golden brown and the cheese has melted.
- Remove from the skillet, slice diagonally, and serve warm.
Notes
- Fresh mozzarella works best to avoid excess moisture and soggy bread.
- Use medium heat to allow the bread to crisp up without burning.
- Grilled Mozzarella Sandwiches are best enjoyed immediately while the cheese is melty.
- If you have leftovers, store them in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 1 day. Reheat in a skillet or oven.
