Description

Grilled cheese sandwiches are the ultimate comfort food, featuring crispy, buttery bread and gooey, melted cheese. A simple yet indulgent classic, this easy-to-make sandwich is perfect for any time of day, and can be customized with your favorite cheeses and extras.

Ingredients

2 slices of bread (white, whole wheat, or sourdough)

2 tablespoons butter (softened)

2 slices of cheese (cheddar, American, or your preferred cheese)

Instructions

  • Preheat a nonstick skillet or griddle over medium heat.

  • Butter one side of each slice of bread evenly to ensure a crispy finish.

  • Place one slice of bread, buttered side down, onto the skillet.

  • Place the slices of cheese on top of the bread, then cover with the second slice of bread, buttered side up.

  • Grill for 3-4 minutes, or until the bottom is golden brown and crispy.

  • Flip the sandwich and grill for another 3-4 minutes, until the second side is golden brown and the cheese is melted.

  • Remove from the skillet and let it cool for a minute before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • Add extras: Customize your grilled cheese with tomatoes, bacon, ham, or sautéed onions inside the sandwich.

  • Use different cheeses: Try Swiss, mozzarella, provolone, or gouda for a different flavor.

  • Herb-infused butter: Add garlic powder, onion powder, or fresh herbs to the butter for extra flavor.
