Description

Green onion jerk chicken wings are a bold and spicy twist on classic jerk flavors. Infused with aromatic green onions, traditional Caribbean spices, and fiery peppers, these wings are grilled, baked, or air-fried to perfection. Ideal for parties, game days, or when you’re craving something with serious flavor.

Ingredients

Chicken wings

Green onions (scallions)

Garlic

Fresh thyme

Scotch bonnet or habanero peppers

Ground allspice

Ground cinnamon

Ground nutmeg

Brown sugar

Lime juice

Soy sauce

Olive oil

Salt

Black pepper

Fresh chopped green onions (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Make the Marinade:
In a blender, combine green onions, garlic, thyme, peppers, allspice, cinnamon, nutmeg, brown sugar, lime juice, soy sauce, olive oil, salt, and pepper. Blend until smooth.

  2. Marinate the Wings:
Place wings in a bowl or zip-top bag. Pour marinade over them and mix to coat. Marinate at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.

  3. Cook the Wings:

    • Grill: Preheat to medium. Grill for 20–25 minutes, turning often.

    • Oven: Bake at 400°F (200°C) for 35–40 minutes, flipping halfway.

    • Air Fryer: Cook at 380°F (193°C) for 25 minutes, shaking halfway.

  4. Serve:
Garnish with chopped green onions and serve hot.

Notes

  • Adjust spice level by using fewer peppers or swapping in jalapeños.

  • Add honey or pineapple juice to the marinade for a sweet and spicy balance.

  • For smoky flavor, grill over charcoal.

  • Marinade can also be used for other meats like pork or tofu.

  • No blender? Finely chop and mix ingredients for a chunkier version
