Description

These Fried Apple Rings with Cinnamon are a delicious dessert combining crispy, golden batter and sweet, juicy apples. Coated in cinnamon sugar, they are the perfect snack for fall or any time you want a comforting treat. Serve with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream for an indulgent experience!

Ingredients

  • 2 large apples (preferably Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Vegetable oil (for frying)
  • 1/4 cup sugar (for coating)
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (for coating)

Instructions

  1. Peel, core, and slice the apples into 1/4-inch thick rings.
  2. In a medium-sized bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cinnamon, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Add the milk, egg, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients and stir until a smooth batter forms.
  4. Heat about 1 inch of vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium-high heat.
  5. Dip each apple ring into the batter, ensuring it’s fully coated, then carefully place it in the hot oil.
  6. Fry the apple rings for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy.
  7. Remove the fried apple rings and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
  8. In a small bowl, mix sugar and cinnamon for the coating. Sprinkle over the fried apple rings while they’re still warm.
  9. Serve immediately with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.

Notes

  • To keep the batter from sliding off, make sure the apples are dry before dipping and lightly dust them with flour.
  • For a gluten-free version, use a gluten-free flour blend.
  • Baking option: Bake at 375°F (190°C) for about 15 minutes, flipping halfway through.
  • For extra crispy rings, ensure the oil is hot enough before frying and avoid overcrowding the pan.
