Ingredients

- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 3 large eggs

- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease and line an 8-inch round cake pan with parchment paper.
- Melt chocolate and butter in a heatproof bowl over simmering water, stirring until smooth. Remove from heat.
- Stir in sugar and vanilla extract until combined.
- Let mixture cool slightly, then whisk in eggs one at a time until smooth.
- Sift in cocoa powder and salt. Stir until fully incorporated.
- Pour batter into prepared pan and smooth the top.
- Bake 20–25 minutes, until center is just set and a thin crust forms on top.
- Cool in pan 10 minutes, then transfer to wire rack to cool completely.
- Dust with cocoa powder or powdered sugar before serving, if desired.
Notes
- A cracked top is normal—inside will remain fudgy and moist.
- Do not overbake; the cake should be just set in the center.
