Description

Ingredients

  1. 1 unbaked 9-inch pie crust (homemade or store-bought)
  2. 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  3. 4 oz dark chocolate, chopped
  4. 1 cup granulated sugar
  5. 1/2 cup brown sugar
  6. 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  7. 3 large eggs
  8. 2/3 cup evaporated milk (or heavy cream)
  9. 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  10. 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Fit the pie crust into a 9-inch pie dish and crimp the edges. Chill while preparing the filling.

  1. In a saucepan, melt butter and dark chocolate until smooth. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together granulated sugar, brown sugar, cocoa powder, eggs, evaporated milk, vanilla, and salt.
  3. Stir in the melted chocolate mixture until fully combined.
  4. Pour filling into the chilled crust.
  5. Bake 45–50 minutes, until the top is set but the center jiggles slightly.
  6. Cool completely before slicing to allow filling to firm up.
