Description
Crockpot Bourbon Chicken is a flavorful, slow-cooked dish made with tender chicken thighs in a savory and sweet bourbon sauce. This easy, one-pot meal combines the richness of bourbon, soy sauce, brown sugar, and mustard for a perfectly balanced, juicy chicken dinner. Ideal for a weeknight or special occasion, Crockpot Bourbon Chicken pairs well with rice, noodles, or vegetables, and can be made ahead or stored for future meals.
Ingredients
4 boneless, skinless chicken thighs
1/2 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup bourbon
1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
1 tablespoon cornstarch (optional, for thickening)
2 tablespoons water (optional, for cornstarch slurry)
Instructions
-
Place chicken thighs in the Crockpot.
-
In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, bourbon, brown sugar, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, ground ginger, and crushed red pepper flakes.
-
Pour the sauce mixture over the chicken.
-
Cover and cook on low for 4-6 hours, or until the chicken is cooked through and tender.
-
Optional: For a thicker sauce, remove the chicken and stir a cornstarch-water slurry into the sauce in the Crockpot. Turn heat to high and let it simmer for 10-15 minutes.
-
Shred or slice the chicken and stir to coat in the sauce.
-
Serve the Bourbon Chicken over rice, noodles, or vegetables.
Notes
-
For a spicier version, add more crushed red pepper flakes or hot sauce.
-
You can substitute chicken breasts for thighs, though thighs provide a more tender result.
-
To make this dish non-alcoholic, replace the bourbon with apple juice or a non-alcoholic bourbon alternative.
-
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3-4 days.
