Ingredients
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 3/4 cup butter, softened
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 tbsp orange zest
- 2 tbsp orange juice (or 1 tsp orange extract)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups white chocolate chips (or vanilla baking chips)
- Optional: a drop of orange gel food coloring
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
- In a large bowl, cream butter with granulated and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in egg, orange zest, orange juice (or extract), and vanilla until smooth.
- Gradually stir dry ingredients into wet mixture until just combined.
- Fold in white chocolate chips. Add food coloring if desired.
- Scoop tablespoon-sized balls of dough onto baking sheets, spacing about 2 inches apart.
- Bake 9–11 minutes, until edges are golden and centers remain soft. Do not overbake.
- Cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
Notes
- For stronger orange flavor, add extra zest or a touch of orange extract.
- Chilling the dough for 30 minutes can help prevent spreading if very soft.
- Use fresh orange juice for the brightest citrus flavor.
