It’s a rich yet light, no-bake Italian treat that is perfect for any special occasion or gathering. Easy to make ahead, this indulgent dessert gets better over time. Ideal for coffee lovers, this tiramisu is customizable and guarantees to impress.

Ingredients

  • 6 large egg yolks
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup mascarpone cheese
  • 1 1/2 cups heavy cream
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 cups brewed strong coffee or espresso, cooled
  • 3 tablespoons coffee liqueur (optional)
  • 24 to 30 ladyfingers
  • Unsweetened cocoa powder, for dusting
  • Dark chocolate shavings (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  • Whisk the egg yolks and sugar in a large mixing bowl until smooth and creamy.
  • In another bowl, whisk the mascarpone cheese until softened, then combine with the egg yolk mixture.
  • Whip the heavy cream and vanilla extract together until stiff peaks form, then gently fold into the mascarpone mixture.
  • In a shallow dish, combine the cooled coffee or espresso with coffee liqueur (if using).
  • Briefly dip each ladyfinger into the coffee mixture—do not soak.
  • Layer the dipped ladyfingers in the bottom of a 9×9-inch dish.
  • Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers.
  • Add another layer of dipped ladyfingers followed by the remaining mascarpone mixture.
  • Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours (preferably overnight).
  • Dust with cocoa powder and sprinkle with chocolate shavings before serving.

Notes

  • Tiramisu tastes even better the next day as the flavors meld together.
  • Store in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days.
  • To avoid soggy ladyfingers, dip quickly in the coffee mixture.
  • Customize with flavored coffee or add chocolate for variation.
