Ingredients
6–8 medium-sized Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour (for thickening)
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons butter, cut into small pieces
1 package of refrigerated pie crusts (or homemade, if preferred)
1 egg (for egg wash)
1 tablespoon milk (for egg wash)
Instructions

Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).

In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples, granulated sugar, brown sugar, lemon juice, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Toss the ingredients together to ensure the apples are evenly coated.

Roll out one of the pie crusts and line a 9-inch pie dish with it.

Pour the apple filling into the pie crust, spreading it out evenly. Dot the filling with small pieces of butter.

Roll out the second pie crust and place it over the top of the apples. Trim any excess dough, then crimp the edges together to seal the pie.

Cut a few small slits in the top crust to allow steam to escape while baking.

In a small bowl, whisk together the egg and milk to create an egg wash. Brush the egg wash over the top crust.
