Description

Cinnamon Roll Honeybun combines the best of cinnamon rolls and honeybuns, featuring layers of sweet cinnamon filling, soft dough, and a gooey glaze. Perfect for breakfast or dessert, it’s a melt-in-your-mouth indulgence.

Ingredients

  1. For the dough:
2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
    1/2 cup warm milk (110°F)
    1/4 cup granulated sugar
    1/3 cup unsalted butter, softened
    1/2 teaspoon salt
    1 egg
    3 cups all-purpose flour
    For the cinnamon filling:
    1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
    1 cup packed brown sugar
    2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
    1/2 teaspoon salt
    For the glaze:
    1 cup powdered sugar
    2 tablespoons milk
    1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Prepare the dough: In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast and sugar in warm milk. Let sit for 5 minutes. In a large mixing bowl, combine the butter, salt, egg, and yeast mixture. Gradually add the flour, 1/2 cup at a time, mixing until the dough comes together. Knead for 5-7 minutes until smooth. Let rise for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  2. Make the cinnamon filling: Mix together softened butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt until smooth.
  3. Shape the honeybun: Punch down the dough and roll it out into a 12 x 18-inch rectangle. Spread the cinnamon filling evenly over the dough, leaving a border. Roll the dough tightly from one edge, and slice into 12-15 rolls. Arrange in a greased 9×13-inch pan. Let rise for another 30 minutes.
  4. Bake: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown. Let cool for 10 minutes.
  5. Prepare the glaze: Whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth. Drizzle over warm rolls just before serving.

Notes

  • You can make these ahead by refrigerating the unbaked rolls overnight and baking them in the morning.
  • For a rich variation, add chopped nuts like pecans or walnuts to the cinnamon filling.
  • For a caramelized honeybun, drizzle caramel sauce over the rolls before baking.
