Description

Cinnamon Apple Tarts are mini pastries filled with tender spiced apples and baked until golden and crisp. They offer all the comfort of classic apple pie in an easy, elegant form—perfect for fall desserts or any cozy occasion.

Ingredients

  • 1 sheet puff pastry or tart dough (thawed if frozen)
  • 23 medium apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg (optional)
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter (cut into small pieces)
  • 1 egg (beaten, for egg wash)
  • All-purpose flour (for dusting if using homemade dough)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or prepare tart pans by greasing lightly.
  2. Roll out puff pastry slightly on a floured surface and cut into 6–8 rectangles or circles, or shape into one large tart base. Transfer to baking sheet or tart pans.
  3. Peel, core, and thinly slice apples. In a bowl, toss apple slices with lemon juice, granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  4. Arrange apple slices on pastry bases, slightly overlapping, leaving a small border around the edges.
  5. Dot apples with small pieces of butter. Brush exposed pastry edges with beaten egg.
  6. Bake for 20–25 minutes (or 30–35 minutes for one large tart), until apples are tender and pastry is golden and crisp.
  7. Let cool for 10 minutes. Dust with powdered sugar or serve with vanilla ice cream if desired.

Notes

  • Use firm, tart apples like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp for best texture and flavor.
  • Don’t overload the pastry with filling—this prevents soggy bottoms.
  • Brush with egg wash for an extra golden finish.
  • Optional: sprinkle nuts like chopped pecans before baking for crunch.
  • Tarts are best served slightly warm but can also be enjoyed at room temperature.
