Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup milk or buttermilk
- 1/3 cup unsalted butter, melted (or oil)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups apples, peeled and chopped
- Optional: 2 tablespoons cinnamon-sugar for topping
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a standard loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
- In a separate bowl, whisk the eggs, sugar, brown sugar, milk, melted butter, and vanilla until well combined.
- Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Fold in the chopped apples.
- Optional: Pour half the batter into the prepared loaf pan, sprinkle with half the cinnamon-sugar topping, add the remaining batter, and top with more cinnamon-sugar.
- Bake for 50–60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Slice and serve once fully cooled.
Notes
- Use firm apples like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp for best texture.
- Don’t overmix the batter to avoid a dense loaf.
- Let the bread cool completely before slicing for clean cuts.
- Store tightly wrapped at room temp or freeze for longer storage.
