Description
Chocolate Mint Mousse is a creamy, rich dessert that combines smooth dark chocolate with refreshing mint, offering a perfect balance of flavors in a light, airy mousse. It’s easy to make, indulgent, and perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
- For the raspberry sauce:
- 1 1/2 cups heavy whipping cream
- 8 oz dark chocolate (preferably 60-70% cocoa), chopped
- 1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract (or more to taste)
- Pinch of salt
- Fresh mint leaves (optional, for garnish)
- Chocolate shavings (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
Prepare the Chocolate:
Place chopped dark chocolate and cocoa powder in a heatproof bowl. In a small saucepan, heat 1/2 cup heavy cream over medium heat until simmering. Pour over chocolate and whisk until smooth. Let cool slightly.
- Make the Mousse:
Whip remaining 1 cup heavy cream with granulated sugar until soft peaks form. Be careful not to overwhip. Gently fold cooled chocolate mixture into whipped cream. Add vanilla extract, peppermint extract, and salt. Adjust mint flavor if needed. - Chill the Mousse:
Spoon mousse into serving dishes. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or until firm. - Serve:
Garnish with fresh mint leaves and chocolate shavings. Serve chilled.
Notes
- Use dark chocolate for a richer mousse or substitute with milk chocolate for a sweeter variation.
- For a dairy-free version, substitute coconut cream for heavy cream and ensure other ingredients are dairy-free.
- If you prefer a more minty flavor, adjust the peppermint extract carefully.
