Description

This rich and creamy Chocolate Avocado Buttercream is a healthy, low-carb frosting option that combines the smoothness of ripe avocados with the deep flavor of sugar-free dark chocolate. Naturally sweetened with powdered Swerve and enhanced by cocoa and vanilla, this buttercream is perfect for spreading or piping on cakes, cupcakes, or brownies for a decadent yet guilt-free treat.

Ingredients

Chocolate

  • 2 ounces sugar-free dark chocolate, chopped

Buttercream

  • 2 ripe California avocados
  • 3/4 cup powdered Swerve sweetener
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 to 4 tablespoons water

Instructions

  1. Melt the Chocolate: Place chopped sugar-free dark chocolate in a bowl set over a pan of barely simmering water (double boiler). Stir the chocolate continuously until fully melted and smooth. Remove from heat and set aside.
  2. Prepare the Avocado Mixture: In a food processor, combine the peeled and pitted ripe avocados, powdered Swerve sweetener, cocoa powder, and vanilla extract. Process on high speed until the ingredients are thoroughly combined and smooth.
  3. Adjust Consistency: Add water one tablespoon at a time to the food processor while blending, until all avocado chunks are fully incorporated and the mixture achieves a smooth, creamy texture.
  4. Incorporate Melted Chocolate: Drizzle the melted dark chocolate into the food processor with the avocado mixture and process again until the buttercream is silky smooth and evenly combined.
  5. Use the Buttercream: Transfer the chocolate avocado buttercream to a piping bag or spreader and apply it as frosting on your favorite low-carb cakes, cupcakes, or brownies. Alternatively, enjoy it by the spoonful as a deliciously creamy treat.

Notes

  • Use ripe avocados for the creamiest texture and best flavor.
  • Sweetener amounts can be adjusted to taste if different sweeteners are used.
  • The water helps to thin out the mixture; add slowly to control the frosting consistency.
  • Keep the buttercream refrigerated if not using immediately; consume within 2-3 days.
  • This frosting is dairy-free, gluten-free, and low-carb, making it suitable for keto diets.
