Description

A comforting and creamy dish that combines fresh spinach with melted cheese, creating a savory and satisfying side or main dish. The rich cheese sauce elevates the spinach, making it flavorful and creamy.

Ingredients

  1. 4 cups fresh spinach, chopped
    1 tablespoon butter
    1 tablespoon olive oil
    2 cloves garlic, minced
    1/2 cup heavy cream
    1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
    1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
    Salt and pepper to taste
    A pinch of nutmeg (optional)

Instructions

Heat the olive oil and butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Once the butter is melted, add the minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes, until fragrant.

  1. Add the chopped spinach to the skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the spinach is wilted and tender.
  2. Pour in the heavy cream and stir to combine. Allow the cream to simmer for 2-3 minutes until it thickens slightly.
  3. Lower the heat and add the mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses. Stir until the cheeses are fully melted and the mixture becomes creamy and smooth.
  4. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Optionally, add a pinch of nutmeg for extra flavor.
  5. Serve immediately, garnished with extra Parmesan if desired.

Notes

  1. Add crispy bacon for a savory twist.
  2. Substitute mozzarella with cheddar, gouda, or your favorite cheese blend.
  3. For a lighter version, swap heavy cream for half-and-half or a lower-fat cream alternative.
  4. Spice it up with red pepper flakes or hot sauce.
  5. Mushrooms pair wonderfully with this dish if added.
