Description
A comforting and creamy dish that combines fresh spinach with melted cheese, creating a savory and satisfying side or main dish. The rich cheese sauce elevates the spinach, making it flavorful and creamy.
Ingredients
- 4 cups fresh spinach, chopped
1 tablespoon butter
1 tablespoon olive oil
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 cup heavy cream
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Salt and pepper to taste
A pinch of nutmeg (optional)
Instructions
Heat the olive oil and butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Once the butter is melted, add the minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes, until fragrant.
- Add the chopped spinach to the skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the spinach is wilted and tender.
- Pour in the heavy cream and stir to combine. Allow the cream to simmer for 2-3 minutes until it thickens slightly.
- Lower the heat and add the mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses. Stir until the cheeses are fully melted and the mixture becomes creamy and smooth.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste. Optionally, add a pinch of nutmeg for extra flavor.
- Serve immediately, garnished with extra Parmesan if desired.
Notes
- Add crispy bacon for a savory twist.
- Substitute mozzarella with cheddar, gouda, or your favorite cheese blend.
- For a lighter version, swap heavy cream for half-and-half or a lower-fat cream alternative.
- Spice it up with red pepper flakes or hot sauce.
- Mushrooms pair wonderfully with this dish if added.
