Description
Cheesy and Crispy Air Fryer Tortellini is a fun, easy, and incredibly delicious snack or appetizer that’s made with tender, cheesy tortellini, crispy on the outside, and perfectly cheesy on the inside. The air fryer creates a golden, crispy crust, while keeping the inside warm and gooey. These little bite-sized pockets of joy are the perfect combination of crunch and cheesy goodness, and they’re perfect for dipping in marinara sauce, ranch, or your favorite dipping sauce.
Ingredients
- 1 package (9 oz) refrigerated or frozen cheese tortellini (or your favorite tortellini)
2 tbsp olive oil (or cooking spray)
1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp dried oregano (optional)
Salt and pepper, to taste
Marinara sauce or ranch for dipping (optional)
Instructions
Preheat the air fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for about 3-5 minutes.
- Cook the tortellini: If using frozen tortellini, cook it according to the package instructions until tender. If using fresh, just follow the package instructions. Drain and let the tortellini cool for a few minutes so it doesn’t get too soft when air frying.
- Coat with olive oil and seasonings: In a bowl, toss the cooked tortellini with olive oil, garlic powder, oregano (if using), salt, and pepper. Make sure the tortellini is evenly coated.
- Add cheese: Add the shredded mozzarella and Parmesan cheese to the bowl and toss until the cheese sticks to the tortellini. If you want extra cheese on the outside, you can sprinkle a little more Parmesan over the top.
- Air fry the tortellini: Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray to prevent sticking. Place the seasoned tortellini in the basket in a single layer, making sure not to overcrowd. You may need to cook in batches depending on the size of your air fryer. Air fry at 375°F (190°C) for about 7-9 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through, until the tortellini is golden brown and crispy.
- Serve: Once crispy and golden, remove the tortellini from the air fryer and serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauce, such as marinara, ranch, or garlic butter.
Notes
- For an extra cheesy bite, you can stuff the tortellini with more cheese before air frying. Just make sure the tortellini is properly sealed to avoid spilling.
- Add red pepper flakes to the seasoning mix for a spicy kick.
- Add some finely chopped fresh basil or thyme to the seasoning mix for an herby flavor boost.
- For a gluten-free version, use gluten-free tortellini.
- Meat-filled tortellini also works well with this recipe. You can use sausage or chicken-filled tortellini.
- Leftover tortellini can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2-3 days. Reheat in the air fryer at 350°F (175°C) for 3-4 minutes to restore the crispiness.
