Description

Cheesy and Crispy Air Fryer Tortellini is a fun, easy, and incredibly delicious snack or appetizer that’s made with tender, cheesy tortellini, crispy on the outside, and perfectly cheesy on the inside. The air fryer creates a golden, crispy crust, while keeping the inside warm and gooey. These little bite-sized pockets of joy are the perfect combination of crunch and cheesy goodness, and they’re perfect for dipping in marinara sauce, ranch, or your favorite dipping sauce.

Ingredients

  1. 1 package (9 oz) refrigerated or frozen cheese tortellini (or your favorite tortellini)
2 tbsp olive oil (or cooking spray)
    1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
    1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
    1 tsp garlic powder
    1/2 tsp dried oregano (optional)
    Salt and pepper, to taste
Marinara sauce or ranch for dipping (optional)

Instructions

Preheat the air fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for about 3-5 minutes.

  1. Cook the tortellini: If using frozen tortellini, cook it according to the package instructions until tender. If using fresh, just follow the package instructions. Drain and let the tortellini cool for a few minutes so it doesn’t get too soft when air frying.
  2. Coat with olive oil and seasonings: In a bowl, toss the cooked tortellini with olive oil, garlic powder, oregano (if using), salt, and pepper. Make sure the tortellini is evenly coated.
  3. Add cheese: Add the shredded mozzarella and Parmesan cheese to the bowl and toss until the cheese sticks to the tortellini. If you want extra cheese on the outside, you can sprinkle a little more Parmesan over the top.
  4. Air fry the tortellini: Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray to prevent sticking. Place the seasoned tortellini in the basket in a single layer, making sure not to overcrowd. You may need to cook in batches depending on the size of your air fryer. Air fry at 375°F (190°C) for about 7-9 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through, until the tortellini is golden brown and crispy.
  5. Serve: Once crispy and golden, remove the tortellini from the air fryer and serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauce, such as marinara, ranch, or garlic butter.

Notes

  1. For an extra cheesy bite, you can stuff the tortellini with more cheese before air frying. Just make sure the tortellini is properly sealed to avoid spilling.
  2. Add red pepper flakes to the seasoning mix for a spicy kick.
  3. Add some finely chopped fresh basil or thyme to the seasoning mix for an herby flavor boost.
  4. For a gluten-free version, use gluten-free tortellini.
  5. Meat-filled tortellini also works well with this recipe. You can use sausage or chicken-filled tortellini.
  6. Leftover tortellini can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2-3 days. Reheat in the air fryer at 350°F (175°C) for 3-4 minutes to restore the crispiness.
