Description

Cheese Quesadillas are an easy, delicious, and versatile dish that can be customized to suit your tastes. Whether you enjoy them as a quick snack or a complete meal, the crispy tortillas and melty cheese are always a winning combination. With endless variations and the ability to add your favorite ingredients, cheese quesadillas are the perfect go-to meal for any occasion.

Ingredients

  1. 2 flour tortillas (8-inch)
1 1/2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or a blend)
1 tablespoon butter (or oil for cooking)

Instructions

Heat a nonstick skillet or griddle over medium heat.

  1. Place one tortilla on a clean surface and sprinkle with shredded cheese evenly over the entire surface, leaving a small border around the edges.
  2. Top with the second tortilla, pressing it down slightly to help the cheese stay in place.
  3. Add the butter (or oil) to the skillet, ensuring it’s evenly distributed. Once the skillet is hot, carefully place the quesadilla in the skillet.
  4. Cook for 2-3 minutes on the first side, until the tortilla is golden brown and crispy. Flip the quesadilla carefully with a spatula, and cook the other side for an additional 2-3 minutes, until the cheese is fully melted and the tortilla is crispy.
  5. Once cooked, remove from the skillet and let it cool for a minute before cutting into wedges.
  6. Serve with your favorite sides like salsa, sour cream, or guacamole.

Notes

  1. Different proteins: Add cooked chicken, beef, or shrimp for a heartier meal.
  2. Add veggies: Add sautéed peppers, onions, mushrooms, or spinach for extra flavor and nutrition.
  3. Spicy twist: Add jalapeños, hot sauce, or a sprinkle of chili powder for some heat.
  4. Different cheeses: Try different cheese combinations such as Monterey Jack, Gouda, or a spicy pepper jack for variety.
  5. Double cheese: For extra gooeyness, use a combination of cheeses like cheddar and mozzarella.
