Description

A warm and comforting Chai Tea Latte recipe that combines aromatic spices and steeped chai tea with steamed milk and a touch of natural sweetener. Perfect for a cozy morning or afternoon treat, this easy-to-make beverage uses simple ingredients to create a rich and flavorful latte that can be customized with dairy or plant-based milk.

Ingredients

Tea and Spices

  • 2-3 chai tea bags
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. ginger
  • 1/4 tsp. all spice
  • 1/4 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp. ground cloves
  • 2 cups water (heated to boiling)

Milk and Sweetener

  • 1 1/2 cups milk (dairy or plant based)
  • 2 tsp. granular monk fruit sweetener or liquid stevia sweetener drops

Instructions

  1. Add Tea Bags and Spices: In a large glass measuring cup or teapot, combine the chai tea bags with the cinnamon, ginger, all spice, nutmeg, and cloves. This will create the base for the chai tea infusion.
  2. Steep the Tea: Pour the boiling water over the tea bags and spice mixture. Allow the tea to steep for 5 minutes, so the flavors fully infuse into the water, creating a fragrant chai concentrate.
  3. Heat the Milk: While the tea steeps, warm the milk using a milk frother, microwave, or stovetop. The milk should be steamed or hot but not boiling; about 60 to 90 seconds in the microwave is ideal. Frothing the milk adds a creamy texture to the latte.
  4. Combine Tea and Milk: Pour the steeped chai tea into two mugs, dividing roughly 1 cup each. Top each mug with approximately 3/4 cup of the steamed and frothed milk, adding extra foam if desired for a latte-like finish.
  5. Add Sweetener and Serve: Stir the monk fruit or stevia sweetener into each mug to taste. Optionally, sprinkle a little cinnamon on top for garnish. Serve immediately while hot to enjoy the rich and comforting flavors.

Notes

  • Use plant-based milk such as almond, oat, or soy milk for a vegan version.
  • Adjust the sweetness to your preference or omit sweetener for a naturally spiced latte.
  • Steeping the chai longer will intensify the spice flavors but may also increase bitterness.
  • Use fresh ground spices for the best flavor.
  • For a frothier latte, use a milk frother or handheld frothing wand.
