Ingredients
- 12 Hawaiian rolls
- 2 cups of peeled and chopped apples
- 1 tablespoon of butter
- 1/4 cup of brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon of cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon of nutmeg
- 1/2 cup of caramel sauce (store-bought or homemade)
- 1/4 cup of chopped pecans (optional)
- 1 tablespoon of heavy cream (optional, for extra creamy caramel)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Cut the Hawaiian rolls in half horizontally, leaving them connected at the bottom.
- In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the chopped apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Cook for 5-7 minutes until apples are softened.
- Remove the apple mixture from heat and let it cool slightly.
- Spoon the apple mixture evenly over the bottom half of the rolls.
- Place the top half of the rolls on top, creating a sandwich with the apple mixture inside.
- Drizzle the caramel sauce over the rolls. For a creamier sauce, mix heavy cream into the caramel sauce before drizzling.
- Sprinkle the chopped pecans on top (optional).
- Bake for 20-25 minutes or until the rolls are golden brown and caramel has melted.
- Let cool for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
- You can use store-bought apple pie filling for a quicker version.
- For a twist, try using maple glaze or chocolate sauce instead of caramel.
- Walnuts or almonds can replace pecans if desired.
- Can be stored at room temperature for 2 days, or refrigerated for up to 4 days.
