Description

Caprese skewers are a fun and elegant twist on the classic Italian salad, featuring fresh mozzarella, cherry tomatoes, basil leaves, and a drizzle of balsamic glaze.

Ingredients

  1. 1 pint cherry tomatoes
1 package fresh mozzarella balls (bocconcini or ciliegine)
    Fresh basil leaves
    Balsamic glaze (store-bought or homemade)
    Extra virgin olive oil (optional)
    Salt and pepper, to taste
    Wooden or metal skewers

Instructions

If using wooden skewers, soak them in water for 10 minutes to prevent burning. If using metal skewers, skip this step.

  1. Assemble the skewers by threading a cherry tomato, followed by a basil leaf, and then a mozzarella ball. Repeat until the skewer is full, alternating the ingredients.
  2. Arrange the skewers on a platter. Drizzle with balsamic glaze and, optionally, olive oil for added richness.
  3. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve immediately or refrigerate until ready to serve.

Notes

  • Variations: Add prosciutto for a savory twist or pesto for a herby flavor.
  • Grilled Version: Lightly grill the skewers for a minute or two on each side for a smoky flavor.
  • Storage: Best enjoyed fresh, but leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for up to 2 days in the fridge.
