Description

Brown Butter Apple Blondies are rich, chewy dessert bars made with nutty browned butter, warm spices, and juicy apple chunks. A perfect fall-inspired treat with deep flavor and a moist, dense texture.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter (for browning)
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg (optional)
  • 2 medium apples, peeled, cored, and diced
  • Optional: 1/2 cup chopped nuts or white chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 9×13-inch baking dish with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
  2. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter and continue cooking until it turns golden brown and smells nutty. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
  3. In a large bowl, mix the browned butter with the brown sugar and granulated sugar until smooth.
  4. Add the eggs and vanilla extract, whisking until well combined.
  5. In another bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg (if using).
  6. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
  7. Fold in the diced apples and any optional add-ins like nuts or white chocolate chips.
  8. Spread the batter evenly in the prepared baking pan.
  9. Bake for 28–35 minutes, or until the edges are golden and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out mostly clean.
  10. Allow the blondies to cool in the pan before slicing into bars.

Notes

  • Use firm apple varieties like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp for best texture.
  • Do not overbake to ensure a chewy, moist blondie.
  • Browning the butter adds rich, nutty depth to the flavor.
  • Blondies can be made a day in advance—they taste even better the next day.
  • Freeze individual bars for up to 3 months for easy snacking later.
