Description

Brazilian Passion Fruit Mousse is a refreshing, light, and tangy dessert that combines the tropical flavors of passion fruit with a smooth, creamy texture. This no-bake mousse is made with fresh passion fruit pulp, sweetened condensed milk, and whipped cream, creating a perfectly balanced treat.

Ingredients

  1. 1 cup fresh passion fruit pulp (or canned if unavailable)
1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
    1 cup heavy cream
    1/2 cup water
1 tbsp powdered gelatin (optional, for extra firmness)
2 tbsp sugar (optional, adjust to taste)

Instructions

Prepare the gelatin (optional): In a small bowl, dissolve the powdered gelatin in 1/2 cup of water. Let it sit for about 5 minutes to bloom, then heat it in the microwave or on the stovetop for about 20 seconds until fully dissolved. Set aside.

  1. Mix the passion fruit base: In a blender or food processor, combine the passion fruit pulp and sweetened condensed milk. Blend until smooth. If desired, strain the mixture to remove the seeds.
  2. Whip the cream: In a separate bowl, beat the heavy cream and sugar (if using) with an electric mixer until stiff peaks form.
  3. Combine the ingredients: Gradually fold the passion fruit mixture into the whipped cream until fully combined. If using gelatin, stir it in at this point.
  4. Chill: Spoon the mousse mixture into serving glasses or a large bowl. Refrigerate for at least 3-4 hours or until set and firm.
  5. Serve: Garnish with extra passion fruit pulp, mint leaves, or whipped cream for an added touch. Serve chilled and enjoy!

Notes

  • Coconut Passion Fruit Mousse: Add a 1/4 cup of shredded coconut to the mousse mixture for a tropical twist.
  • Lemon Passion Fruit Mousse: For a more citrusy flavor, add a tablespoon of lemon juice to the mixture.
  • Mango Passion Fruit Mousse: Blend fresh or frozen mango with the passion fruit pulp for a tropical mango-passion fruit fusion mousse.
  • Vegan Passion Fruit Mousse: Replace the heavy cream with coconut cream and use a plant-based sweetened condensed milk alternative for a vegan-friendly version.
  • Storage: Store any leftover mousse in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. You can also freeze individual portions for up to 1 month and thaw in the refrigerator before serving.
  • Reheating: Mousse is best served cold or at room temperature, but if you want to soften it slightly, heat it in the microwave for 5-10 seconds.
