Description

A delightful twist on classic s’mores featuring ripe blackberries and creamy white chocolate, toasted to perfection under a broiler. This single-serving treat combines the sweetness of smashed blackberries with melted white chocolate and a perfectly toasted marshmallow sandwiched between buttered graham crackers.

Ingredients

Blackberry Mixture

  • 2 ripe blackberries

S’mores Assembly

  • ½ tablespoon butter
  • 1 graham cracker sheet (split in half horizontally)
  • 1 white chocolate square (approximately 1 ounce)
  • 1 jumbo marshmallow

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Broiler: Set your oven broiler to high heat. Place the blackberries in a small bowl and gently crush them using the back of a fork or a cocktail muddler until they are slightly smashed but still have some texture. Set aside for later use.
  2. Melt the Butter: Place the butter in a small microwave-safe bowl and heat it in 30-second increments, stirring well after each burst, until fully melted and smooth but not bubbling. Carefully remove it from the microwave.
  3. Prepare Graham Crackers: Lay the two halves of the graham cracker sheet on a microwave-safe plate. Using a pastry or basting brush, evenly apply the melted butter to both sides of each graham cracker half to ensure crispness and flavor.
  4. Soften the White Chocolate: Place the white chocolate square on one of the buttered graham cracker halves. Microwave the plate at 50% power for 30 to 45 seconds or just until the chocolate begins to soften and melt. Avoid overheating to prevent burning the graham crackers.
  5. Assemble for Toasting: Carefully transfer the graham cracker with softened white chocolate to a small baking sheet. Place the jumbo marshmallow on top of the white chocolate, ready for broiling.
  6. Broil the Marshmallow: Position the baking sheet under the preheated broiler. Keep a close watch and broil for about 1½ to 2 minutes, until the marshmallow just starts to brown lightly. For a more toasted finish, you may use a kitchen torch after broiling. Be careful not to burn the graham crackers.
  7. Final Assembly: Remove the baking sheet from the broiler. Transfer the graham cracker topped with melted chocolate and toasted marshmallow to a serving plate. Spoon the smashed blackberries evenly over the toasted marshmallow. Top with the remaining buttered graham cracker half to complete your s’more. Serve immediately and enjoy.

Notes

  • The white chocolate square should be approximately 1 ounce to ensure proper melting and adequate coverage on the graham cracker.
  • Monitor the broiler closely as cooking times can vary by oven, and marshmallows can burn quickly.
  • You can use a kitchen torch to toast the marshmallow further if you prefer it more browned after broiling.
  • Butter on both sides of the graham crackers helps prevent sogginess and adds a rich flavor.
