Ingredients

1 lb ground beef

1 packet taco seasoning

1/2 cup water

8 taco shells (hard or soft)

1 cup shredded lettuce

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

1/2 cup chopped pickles

1/4 cup finely chopped onion

1/2 cup mayonnaise

2 tablespoons ketchup

1 tablespoon mustard

1 tablespoon white vinegar

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  • In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned and fully cooked, breaking it apart with a spoon. Drain any excess fat.

  • Add taco seasoning and water to the beef, stirring to combine. Simmer for 5 minutes until thickened, then remove from heat.

  • In a small bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, vinegar, garlic powder, and a pinch of salt and pepper to make the special sauce.

  • Heat taco shells according to package instructions.

  • To assemble, spoon seasoned beef into each taco shell, followed by lettuce, cheese, pickles, and onions.

  • Drizzle with special sauce and serve immediately

Notes

  • Variations: Add crumbled crispy bacon, swap cheddar for American cheese, or make a spicy version with hot sauce or jalapeños.

  • Storage: Store leftover beef mixture in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Special sauce can be stored separately for up to a week.

  • Reheating: Reheat beef in a skillet or microwave; warm taco shells separately to maintain crispiness.
