Description

These Better than a Boyfriend Brownies are rich, fudgy, and loaded with chocolate chunks for an indulgent treat. With a perfect balance of sweetness and deep cocoa flavor, these brownies are easy to make and perfect for sharing. Optionally, swirl in dulce de leche for an extra layer of creamy caramel goodness.

Ingredients

Brownie Batter

  • 1 cup Butter, softened
  • 2 cups Sugar
  • 1 cup Brown Sugar
  • 4 Eggs
  • 1 Tablespoon Vanilla Extract
  • 1 cup Flour
  • 1/2 cup Cake Flour
  • 1 cup Cocoa Powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 1/2 cups Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chunks or Chips

Optional

  • 8-ounce jar Dulce de Leche, warmed

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit to ensure it’s hot and ready for baking the brownies.
  2. Cream Butter and Sugars: In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, sugar, and brown sugar for 3-4 minutes until the mixture is light and fluffy, creating a smooth base for the batter.
  3. Add Eggs and Vanilla: Add the eggs one at a time to the creamed mixture, beating well after each addition to incorporate fully. Then stir in the vanilla extract for flavor.
  4. Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, mix together the flour, cake flour, cocoa powder, and salt until evenly blended.
  5. Mix Dry Ingredients into Wet: Gradually stir the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined, being careful not to overmix to keep the brownies tender.
  6. Fold in Chocolate Chunks: Gently fold the semi-sweet chocolate chunks or chips into the batter to distribute the melty chocolate pieces throughout.
  7. Optional Dulce de Leche Swirl: If using, warm the dulce de leche in the microwave. Swirl about 4 ounces of it into the batter for a caramel swirl effect.
  8. Pour Batter into Pan: Pour the brownie batter into a greased or parchment-lined 9 x 13-inch baking pan and spread it evenly using a spatula.
  9. Bake the Brownies: Bake in the preheated oven for 28 to 36 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out with moist crumbs but no raw batter.
  10. Cool and Optional Topping: Let the brownies cool completely in the pan. If desired, warm the remaining dulce de leche and spread it over the top of the cooled brownies before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • Do not overmix the batter once you add the dry ingredients to maintain a tender crumb.
  • Check doneness starting at 28 minutes to avoid overbaking; brownies should be fudgy inside.
  • The dulce de leche swirl and topping are optional but add a delicious caramel flavor.
  • Use good quality cocoa powder and chocolate chunks for best flavor.
  • Allow brownies to cool fully before cutting for clean slices.
