Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 packet taco seasoning (or homemade taco seasoning)
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 8 small taco shells (hard or soft)
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • Salsa (optional)
  • Jalapeños (optional)
  • Fresh cilantro (optional)

Instructions

  • In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned, breaking it up into crumbles with a spatula.
  • Add chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes until the onion is translucent.
  • Stir in taco seasoning and water, mixing well to coat the beef. Let it simmer for 5-7 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld and the sauce to thicken.
  • While the beef is cooking, warm the taco shells in the oven or skillet as per the package instructions.
  • Assemble tacos by spooning the seasoned beef into each taco shell.
  • Top with shredded lettuce, cheddar cheese, diced tomatoes, sour cream, salsa, jalapeños, and cilantro, as desired.
  • Serve immediately and enjoy
