Description
Banana Popsicles are a fun, healthy, and easy-to-make frozen treat that combines the creamy texture of bananas with customizable toppings like chocolate, nuts, and more. These popsicles are perfect for hot summer days or as a nutritious snack for the whole family.
Ingredients
- 2 ripe bananas
- 1/2 cup Greek yogurt (optional, for added creaminess)
- 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup (optional, for sweetness)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional, for added flavor)
- 1/4 cup dark chocolate chips (optional, for dipping)
- 1/4 cup chopped nuts, shredded coconut, or granola (optional, for topping)
Instructions
Peel the bananas and cut them in half. Insert a wooden popsicle stick or skewer into the cut end of each banana half.
- If using Greek yogurt, blend the yogurt, honey (or maple syrup), and vanilla extract in a small bowl until smooth. For a simpler version, you can skip this step and freeze the bananas as they are.
- If you prefer a smooth coating, dip each banana half into the yogurt mixture, making sure it’s coated evenly. If you like a chunkier texture, you can skip the dip and freeze the bananas as-is.
- For added texture, roll the banana halves in chopped nuts, granola, or shredded coconut. Alternatively, you can sprinkle these toppings on after dipping them in yogurt.
- Place the coated bananas on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, ensuring they don’t touch each other.
- Freeze the banana pops for 2-3 hours, or until fully frozen.
- (Optional) Melt the dark chocolate chips in the microwave or using a double boiler. Once the banana pops are frozen, dip the ends into the melted chocolate and return them to the freezer to set for an additional 30 minutes.
- Once the popsicles are fully frozen and the chocolate is set (if using), remove them from the parchment paper and enjoy immediately.
Notes
- You can add a layer of peanut butter or almond butter on the banana before freezing for extra creaminess and flavor.
- These popsicles are naturally dairy-free if you skip the yogurt or use a plant-based alternative like coconut yogurt.
- For added variety, try different fruit combinations like strawberries, blueberries, or mango blended with the banana and yogurt mixture.
