Description

Banana Cinnamon Rolls are soft, fluffy, and infused with ripe banana flavor in the dough, paired with a sweet cinnamon sugar filling and topped with creamy frosting. A cozy twist on a classic breakfast roll, perfect for brunch or special mornings.

Ingredients

  1. 2 ripe bananas, mashed
  2. 4 cups all-purpose flour
  3. 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  4. 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
  5. 3/4 cup warm milk
  6. 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  7. 1 egg
  8. 1/2 tsp salt
  9. 1/2 cup brown sugar
  10. 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  11. 2 tbsp unsalted butter, softened (for filling)
  12. 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  13. 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened (for frosting)
  14. 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  15. 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

Dissolve yeast in warm milk and let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.

  1. Mash bananas in a large bowl and combine with sugar, melted butter, egg, and salt.
  2. Add yeast mixture and gradually stir in flour until a soft dough forms.
  3. Knead dough on a floured surface for 5–7 minutes, then place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled.
  4. Roll dough into a rectangle, spread softened butter, and sprinkle with brown sugar and cinnamon mixture.
  5. Roll up tightly and slice into 12 equal rolls. Place in greased baking dish, cover, and let rise for another 30 minutes.
  6. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 20–25 minutes or until golden brown.
  7. Meanwhile, beat cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla until smooth for the frosting.
  8. Spread frosting over warm rolls and serve.

Notes

  • Use very ripe bananas for maximum sweetness and flavor.
  • If dough is too sticky, add flour gradually until soft and manageable.
  • For make-ahead, refrigerate dough overnight after first rise.
  • Do not overbake—check at 20 minutes to keep rolls soft.
