Instructions

  • Preheat Oven: Set to 350°F (175°C).
  • Prepare the Nut Filling: Mix chopped nuts, sugar, and cinnamon in a bowl.
  • Layer the Phyllo Dough:
    • Brush a baking dish with melted butter.
    • Layer a sheet of phyllo, brush with butter, and repeat several times.
  • Add the Nut Mixture: After layering a few sheets, sprinkle nut mixture evenly. Repeat, alternating layers, ending with phyllo sheets on top.
  • Cut the Baklava: Use a sharp knife to cut into diamond or square shapes.
  • Bake: Place in the oven and bake for 45-50 minutes until golden and crisp.
  • Prepare the Syrup:
    • In a saucepan, heat honey, water, lemon juice, and vanilla until well combined.
  • Pour the Syrup: Once the baklava is out of the oven, pour warm syrup over it immediately.
  • Let it Rest: Allow to soak for 3-4 hours before serving.
