Description

Asian-Style Ground Beef Lettuce Wraps are a flavorful, low-carb meal featuring savory seasoned beef wrapped in crisp lettuce leaves, perfect for a quick and fresh lunch or dinner.

Ingredients

  1. 1 pound ground beef
    1 tablespoon vegetable oil
    1 small onion, finely diced
    2 cloves garlic, minced
    1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
    1/4 cup hoisin sauce
2 tablespoons soy sauce or tamari
    1 tablespoon rice vinegar
    1 teaspoon sesame oil
1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
1 head butter or iceberg lettuce, leaves separated
Optional toppings: shredded carrots, chopped green onions, toasted sesame seeds, chopped cilantro

Instructions

Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add diced onion and cook until softened.

  1. Add garlic and ginger; cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
  2. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon.
  3. Stir in hoisin sauce, soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes (if using). Cook for 2-3 minutes until flavors meld and sauce thickens slightly.
  4. Spoon beef mixture into lettuce leaves.
  5. Top with shredded carrots, green onions, sesame seeds, and cilantro if desired. Serve immediately.

Notes

  1. Swap ground beef with ground turkey, chicken, or tofu for variation.
  2. Add sriracha or extra red pepper flakes for more spice.
  3. Include diced water chestnuts or chopped peanuts for extra crunch.
  4. Use tamari or coconut aminos for gluten-free option.
  5. Store cooked beef mixture in airtight container in fridge up to 3 days.
  6. Reheat in skillet or microwave until warm.
  7. Keep lettuce leaves fresh wrapped in damp paper towel in fridge.
  8. Freeze beef mixture for up to 2 months in airtight container.
