Description

Apple Rose Puffs are elegant pastries made with thinly sliced apples rolled in puff pastry to resemble blooming roses. Lightly sweetened with cinnamon and finished with a glossy jam glaze, they are as beautiful as they are delicious—perfect for tea time, special occasions, or a showstopping dessert.

Ingredients

  1. 2 red apples (such as Pink Lady or Gala)
  2. 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  3. 1 tbsp lemon juice
  4. 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  5. 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  6. 2 tbsp apricot jam or honey
  7. 2 tbsp water
  8. Powdered sugar (optional, for dusting)

Instructions

Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a muffin tin.

  1. Halve, core, and thinly slice apples (about 1/8-inch thick). Toss slices with lemon juice and microwave with water for 2–3 minutes until pliable.
  2. Roll puff pastry slightly and cut into 6 strips.
  3. Spread a thin layer of apricot jam or honey over each strip.
  4. Arrange apple slices along the top edge of each strip, overlapping slightly with peel edges sticking out.
  5. Sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon.
  6. Fold the bottom half of pastry over the apples.
  7. Roll each strip tightly to form a rose shape and place into muffin tin wells.
  8. Bake 35–40 minutes until pastry is golden and crisp.
  9. Cool slightly and dust with powdered sugar before serving if desired.

Notes

  1. Leave apple skins on for vibrant color and structure.
  2. Ensure apples are softened so they roll easily without cracking.
  3. Bake until golden to avoid soggy pastry.
