Description
Apple pie with graham cracker crust is a cozy, sweet twist on the classic dessert. Featuring a crunchy graham base and a spiced apple filling, it’s simple to make and perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
- For the crust:
- 1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 6 tablespoons melted butter
- Pinch of salt
- For the filling:
- 6 cups sliced apples (Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or a mix)
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour or cornstarch
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Optional: 1 tablespoon butter, cut into small pieces
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Mix graham cracker crumbs, sugar, melted butter, and salt in a bowl until combined.
- Press mixture into the bottom and sides of a 9-inch pie dish. Use the back of a measuring cup to compact evenly.
- Bake crust for 8–10 minutes. Let cool slightly.
- Increase oven temperature to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large bowl, toss sliced apples with brown sugar, granulated sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, flour or cornstarch, and vanilla extract.
- Pour apple mixture into pre-baked crust. Dot with butter if using.
- Cover loosely with foil and bake for 40 minutes. Remove foil and bake another 10–15 minutes until apples are tender and filling is bubbling.
- Cool for at least 2 hours before slicing to allow filling to set.
Notes
- Pre-baking the crust prevents sogginess and helps it hold together.
- Use a mix of tart and sweet apples for best flavor and texture.
- Let the pie cool completely to ensure clean slices.
- Try a streusel topping for extra crunch and flavor.
