Description
Apple pie spring rolls are a crispy, handheld twist on the classic dessert, filled with spiced apples and wrapped in golden-fried spring roll wrappers. Perfect for parties or quick treats, they deliver all the comforting flavors of apple pie in an easy-to-make format.
Ingredients
- 12 spring roll wrappers
- 3 apples, peeled, cored, and diced
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg (optional)
- 1 tbsp butter
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 2 tbsp water (for slurry)
- Water (for sealing wrappers)
- Oil for frying (vegetable or canola)
- Optional: powdered sugar or caramel sauce for topping
Instructions
In a skillet over medium heat, melt the butter.
- Add diced apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Cook for 5–7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the apples are tender.
- Mix cornstarch with 2 tbsp water to make a slurry. Stir into the apple mixture and cook for 1 more minute until thickened. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
- Place a spring roll wrapper on a clean surface. Spoon about 2 tablespoons of filling near one edge.
- Fold the sides in, then roll up tightly like a burrito. Seal the edge with water.
- Heat oil in a deep pan to 350°F (175°C). Fry spring rolls in batches for 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown. Drain on paper towels.
- Optional: Dust with powdered sugar or drizzle with caramel sauce before serving.
Notes
- Use tart apples like Granny Smith for best flavor and texture.
- Keep spring roll wrappers covered with a damp cloth to prevent drying.
- Don’t overfill rolls to prevent leaking or tearing.
- To lighten up, bake or air-fry instead of deep frying.
- Great served with caramel sauce, whipped cream, or vanilla glaze.
