Description

Apple Crisp with Vanilla Ice Cream is a timeless dessert that combines the tartness of baked apples with a crunchy, cinnamon-sugar topping, topped with smooth vanilla ice cream for a comforting treat.

Ingredients

  1. 6 medium apples, peeled and sliced
    1 tablespoon lemon juice
    1/4 cup granulated sugar
    1/4 cup brown sugar
    1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
    1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
    1/4 teaspoon salt
    1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
    1 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
    1/2 cup all-purpose flour
    1/2 cup brown sugar (packed)
    1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
    1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup unsalted butter, cut into small cubes
    Vanilla ice cream (for serving)

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

  1. In a large bowl, toss the sliced apples with lemon juice, granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, and vanilla extract until evenly coated. Transfer the apple mixture to a greased 9×9-inch baking dish.
  2. In a separate bowl, combine the rolled oats, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Stir in the cubed butter and use your fingers or a pastry cutter to work the butter into the dry ingredients until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Evenly sprinkle the oat topping over the apples.
  4. Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are tender.
  5. Let the crisp cool slightly before serving. Top with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and enjoy!

  • For a gluten-free version, use gluten-free flour and certified gluten-free oats.
  • For a vegan version, substitute vegan butter and plant-based ice cream.
  • Can be made ahead by assembling and refrigerating before baking.
