Description

Apple Crisp Tacos are a fun dessert mashup that combines crispy cinnamon-sugar taco shells with warm spiced apples and a buttery oat crumble topping. Perfect for parties or fall gatherings, these handheld treats are easy to serve and irresistible.

Ingredients

  • 8 small flour tortillas
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 3 tbsp melted butter

Apple Filling:

  • 3 medium apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp), peeled, cored, and diced
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/8 tsp ground nutmeg (optional)
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp butter

Crisp Topping:

  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup rolled oats
  • 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 2 tbsp cold butter, cubed

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Brush both sides of each tortilla with melted butter and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar.
  2. Drape tortillas over oven-safe bars or place between muffin tin cups to shape into tacos. Bake for 8–10 minutes until golden and crisp. Let cool.
  3. In a skillet over medium heat, melt butter and add diced apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice. Cook until apples are soft and syrupy, about 8–10 minutes. Set aside.
  4. For the topping, mix flour, brown sugar, oats, and cinnamon in a bowl. Cut in cold butter until crumbly.
  5. Spread topping on a baking sheet and bake for 10–12 minutes until golden and crisp, stirring halfway through. Let cool.
  6. To assemble, spoon warm apple filling into each taco shell, top with crisp oat topping, and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Assemble tacos just before serving to keep shells crisp.
  • Use firm apples like Granny Smith for best texture.
  • Drizzle with caramel or top with whipped cream or ice cream for extra indulgence.
  • Bake crisp topping ahead and store in an airtight container.
  • Reheat apple filling before serving if making in advance.
